Laurencekirk
The main part of the Mearns is Laurencekirk. It has been developing at a fast and furious rate. There is an Academy called Mearns with about 600 pupils and also a well-attended primary school. Recently, the railway station was re-opened to the public, making it easier for the local commuters to travel around to Aberdeen or Dundee. Laurencekirk has a new skatepark, astro-turf and football field and a newly-built playpark for the toddlers. There are a few shops for your shopping, a post office for deliveries, a Sports Centre equipped with a gym and four pubs for a wee dram. There is a community centre too! Two chippies, four hairdressers and six parks round it off nicely. In general, a fab and fun place to live.
